By Patrick J. Buchanan
Actually, Joe set himself up. From the moment he set foot on Israeli soil, our vice president was in full pander mode.
First, he headed to Yad Vashem memorial, where he put on a yarmulke and declared Israel “a central bolt in our existence.”
“For world Jewry,” Joe went on, presumably including 5 million Americans, “Israel is the heart. … Israel is the light. … Israel is the hope.”
Meeting Shimon Peres the next day, Joe confessed that when he first visited at age 29, “Israel captured my heart.”
In Peres’ guestbook, he wrote, “The bond between our two nations has been and remains unshakeable.”
He then told Peres and the world, “There is absolutely no space between the United States and Israel when it comes to Israel’s security.”
As Peres spoke, Biden took notes. When Peres called him “a friend,” Joe gushed, “It’s good to be home.”
Even at AIPAC, they must have been gagging.
Walking around the corner to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, Joe called him by his nickname, “Bibi,” declared him a “real” friend and said the U.S. relationship with Israel “has been and will continue to be the centerpiece of our policy.”
Then the sandbag hit.
Interior Minister Eli Yishai announced construction of 1,600 new apartment units in Arab East Jerusalem. Stunned and humiliated, Biden issued a statement saying he “condemned” the decision.
He then retaliated by coming late to dinner at Bibi’s house.
Netanyahu has apologized for the timing, but they are going ahead with the apartments. What are the Americans going to do about it? At this point, nothing but bluster.
Indeed, a day later, at Tel Aviv University, Joe was back at it: “(T)he U.S. has no better friend … than Israel.”
On his departure for Jordan, Ha’aretz reported that Israel plans to build 50,000 new homes in East Jerusalem over the next few years.
Biden may feel he was played for a fool, and Americans may feel jilted, but we got what grovelers deserve. And if we wish to understand why the Arabs who once respected us now seem contemptuous of us, consider that battered-spouse response to a public slap across the face.
Consider also the most remarkable statement of Biden’s first 24 hours.
“Progress occurs in the Middle East when everyone knows there is simply no space between the United States and Israel.”
Biden is saying we are a more effective force for Mideast peace in a region where Arabs outnumber Israelis 50 to one if everyone knows we sing from the same song sheet as Israel and have no policy independent of Israel’s.
How can America be seen as an honest broker between Arabs and Israelis if there is “no space” between America and Israel?
Even with the closest ally in our history, Britain in World War II, there was space between Winston Churchill and FDR on where to invade — North Africa, Italy, France, the Balkans? — whether to beat Stalin to Berlin, Prague and Vienna, who should be supreme allied commander, even whether the British Empire should survive.
Israel keeps its own interests foremost in mind, and when these dictate actions inimical to U.S. interests, Israel acts unilaterally. David Ben-Gurion did not seek Dwight Eisenhower’s permission to attack Egypt in collusion with the French and British in 1956, enraging Ike.
Israel did not consult JFK on whether it could steal enriched uranium from the NUMEC plant in Pennsylvania for its atom bomb program.
Israel did not consult us on whether it could attack the USS Liberty in the Six-Day War, or suborn Jonathan Pollard to loot our security secrets, or transfer our weapons technology to China. They went ahead and did it, knowing the Americans would swallow hard and take it.
Ehud Olmert did not consult President-elect Obama on whether to launch a war on Gaza and kill 1,400 Palestinians. Nor did Netanyahu consult us before Mossad took down the Hamas minister in Dubai.
What Netanyahu and Yishai are telling Obama with their decision to keep building on occupied land is, “When it comes to East Jerusalem and the West Bank, we decide, not you.”
And if Netanyahu has jolted Joe and others out of their romantic reveries about Israel, good. At least now we no longer see as through a glass darkly.
Israeli and U.S. interests often run parallel, but they are not the same. Israel is concerned with a neighborhood. We are concerned with a world of 300 million Arabs and a billion Muslims. Our policies cannot be the same.
If they are, we will end up with all of Israel’s enemies, who are legion, and only Israel’s friends, who are few.
And if our policy and Israel’s are one and the same, the Arab perception will be what it is today — that America cannot stand up to Israel, even when her national interests command it.
Joe’s performance before he got the wet mitten across the face only underscored the point: The mighty superpower is a poodle of Israel.

“Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens,) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake; since history and experience prove, that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government. But that jealousy, to be useful, must be impartial; else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defence against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation, and excessive dislike of another, cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots, who may resist the intrigues of the favorite, are liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.”

Saw bob florida’s post. Hopefully the loyal HE crowd will move here. The format could be better. Free speech is doomed. Maybe their will be fallout on HE and the drudge site will loose hits.
I’m with you 95% of the time Pat but we can never see through the same lens when it comes to Israel. Keep up the good work but I can’t go there with you.
Can I ask you why? Specifically, what has PJB written about Israel that you disagree with?
Great article.
Why did portions of this article get censored on Human Events?
For Christians who still fall for that Scofield nonesense:
http://www.truthtellers.org/israel/mideaststrife.html
“Something is going on and I fear the Zionists have struck again. It awful living in America fearing a foreign enemy.” – Andy Osnard
Quite the contrary, Andy. Human Events censored parts of Pat’s article. The full version is here. I think drudge is looking after our best interests.
Although I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Buchanan I find rather alarming the outright hatred being espoused in some of these comments.
“I find rather alarming the outright hatred being espoused in some of these comments.”
The TRUTH is anti-semitic, I know.
Patriots are SILENCED just about EVERYWHERE in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Courts in Australia and Canada, under instigation from Jewish groups, have ruled that when it comes to criticism involving Jews that “the truth is no defense” see Australia, Fredrick Toben trials; Canada: ERNST ZUNDEL TRIALS
Now whether they are right or wrong the FACT that Judges presiding over their cases made those statments should FRIGHTEN the heck out of ANY human being.
The ADL and its minions constantly push for “Hate Speech” laws and we have seen the power of the Jewish lobby when they got every single Democrat senator save Teddy Kennedy out of their beds in the middle of the night to pass that “Hate Crime” bill last June.
Hello ChristianPatriot – The first prime minister of Israel was David Ben Gurion.
Zionist Christians’ support comes from the distorted Scofield Bible which was written by a Zionist-funded Rev. Cyrus Scofield.
The proposed map of Eretz-Israel (Greater Israel) which was presented by Theodor Herzl (d. 1904) and wrote in his Diaries, vol. II, page 711: “The area of Jewish State stretches from the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrate”. This map was also inscribed on Israel’s 10-agora coin, showing the Zionist entity stretching from “the Mediterranean to Mesopotamia and from Red Sea to Euphrate and upto Medinnah in Saudi Arabia.”.

Thank you Pat for being the only person with mainstream media creds to open the American public’s eyes. after hearing Biden’s and Clinton’s slapdown of Netanyahu for their insult of the USA I felt proud. However Pat has put this in perspective for me. Biden’s groveling and in my view treasonous statements gave the green light for the humiliation of the US by Israel.
Immediately after this so-called crisis started I predicted to friens how it was going to shape up.
1. There will be some reactions from frustrated Palestinians, Israel will react and overreact, the situation will escalate. Obama meaning the US will be blamed for the events.
and/or
2. All the traitors in congress will issue statements expressing support for Israel and telling Obama, Biden and Clinton to “shut up” in less direct words.
How can a great nation stay great if its leaders state its policies are tied to a foreign nation whose policies are designed to give one minority religion the upperhand over a regional majority?
How can a great nation be great much longer if its leaders and politicians cannot find a reason to criticize a foreign nation that depends on its prestige, blood and treasure to remain afloat, yet who can demean their own presidents and leaders when they try to put Israel in its place?
Don’t we deserve some blame as a Country? “We” elected this Executive Branch. Joe Biden is a dim-wit and his President lacks any competent advice on the mid-east and any basic Christian faith. A LOT of Christians believe all Jews must return to Israel before the End of Days. So we support Israel knowing Turkey will be the real catalyst when the time comes. Not defending Israel is to accept Islamic rule in the land of Jesus. Many of us believe Islam is born of Satan. Of what importance is your analysis for those who read the Bible as I do? And by the way, I was in Manhattan on 9/11/2001. I think I kind of know what the End of Days will look like, and feel like. It will truly test our Faith. Anyway, I love you Pat. But my father used to say, “some problems have no solution on Earth.” And that is so true of the mid-east. God Bless America.
Linda:
I want to thank you for responding to my posts. I noticed on Drudge tonight that the whole Bibi and Biden glitch has sort of gone away. Other sites are still carrying it though.
I’m going to stop going to Drudge and with others doing the same, maybe it will be noticed on their hit count.
I sure hope some of the HE posters come over to this site. I don’t like the narrow format as well but it is better than being blocked.
I have looked on the net and find no mention of Pat being knocked off of HE. I guess Bay is still on there but rarely find the time for other blogs.
I did read where the SPLC and another Neocon group have been pestering HE to rid themselves of Tellers of the Truth. What kind of person does it take to try to deprive others of their speech and even want to control their thoughts. The must be driven by inordinate fear and hatred.
Mr. Buchanan you do not REMOTELY understand the mechanics of the situation with the jews so I will explain it to you:
The truth is we are hated by the Muslim world. It is not only political correctness, but also political madness to hear the words of hatred aimed at the West and not accept them as teality. Even the threats of Osama bin Laden were taken from the eighth and ninth chapters of the Koran.
“When you meet the unbelievers strike them in the neck…. If you do not go out and fight, God will punish you severely…Whenever you find the polytheists, kill them, seize them,
besiege them, ambush them…You who believe do not take Jews and Christians as friends…The Hour of Judgement will not come until Muslims fight the Jews and kill them”.
A good muslim is a jihadist. A bad muslim wants peace.
There will NEVER be peace with the muslims because their bible, the Qu’ran says to KILL the jews and me because I am a Christian. What are you Mr. Buchanan?.
Well, My Mpmobley, if we assume the truth of your contention, why would (some) moslems not care overmuch for the West? Pat hit the nail on the head in a television discussion several years back:
1) The US has military bases in the Middle East
2) The US supports Israel to the hilt
3) The US props up corrupt and authoritian regimes throughout the region.
And please stop this bunkum of quoting from the koran when it’s realpolitik that is at the foundation of the problem.
The Israeli stance is amusing. On the one hand, a homeland is needed because of the Holocaust and, um, Europeans cannot be trusted not to do the same thing again to Jewish people. Yet when it is convenient, Israel becomes a bastion of defence for the West, and it becomes a collective “we” of Christians and Jews defending ourselves from the crazed and fanatical moslem hordes.
The USA has to stop being joined at the hip with Israel. I recall in 2000 both presidential candidates said the same thing: “1. We are solidly behind Israel. 2. The world expects to see us an impartial judge.” So debased are American standards of thought and discussion that no-one apparently spooted the glaring contradiction with this stance. Again, my hat off to Pat for making this contradiction explicit.

wpmobley:
I understand. If I had built my house on stolen land, I would be afraid also. Many time people behavior causes a lot of their problems. Has that ever crossed you mind? People will usually treat you the way you treat them. The Palestinian Arabs are genetically the same as the Semitic Jews of Israel so their ancestors have lived in the area as long as the ancestors of the Jews. Only the religions are different. What? Jews have to live in all Jewish communities?
It would appear that Israelis are the only people worth protecting and loving and to whom we Americans should give total support; and if we criticize them we are to be relegated to the trash bin and labeled anti-Semitic.
There is an ancient phrase that I’ve just made up that expresses my deepest feelings about the above: “____ ____!”
I didn’t mean to be so blunt but I do have strong opinions.

The Human Events web site is getting rather sporadic in its accessibility to Buchanan’s articles. Is anyone else having problems finding and commenting on same?
Not the first Groveling, Not the first Poodle, this is from the candidate for the President of the USA:
CORAL GABLES, Florida (CNN) — The following is a partial transcript
of the debate between President Bush and Sen. John Kerry held
Thursday night at the University of Miami. The topic of the debate
is foreign affairs, and the moderator is Jim Lehrer of PBS:
(……………………………)
BUSH: Yes, I understand what it means to the commander in chief. And
if I were to ever say, “This is the wrong war at the wrong time at
the wrong place,” the troops would wonder, “How can I follow this
guy?”
You cannot lead the war on terror if you keep changing positions on
the war on terror and say things like, “Well, this is just a grand
diversion.” It’s not a grand diversion. This is an essential that we
get it right.
And so, the plan he talks about simply won’t work.
LEHRER: Senator Kerry, you have 30 seconds. You have 30 seconds,
right.
KERRY: Secretary of State Colin Powell told this president the
Pottery Barn rule: If you break it, you fix it.
Now, if you break it, you made a mistake. It’s the wrong thing to
do. But you own it. And then you’ve got to fix it and do something
with it.
Now that’s what we have to do. There’s no inconsistency. Soldiers
know over there that this isn’t being done right yet. I’m going to
get it right for those soldiers, because it’s important to Israel,
it’s important to America, it’s important to the world, it’s
important to the fight on terror.”
I don’t remember anybody noticing and commenting on what Kerry had
said:
“because it’s important to Israel,
it’s important to America, it’s important to the world, it’s
important to the fight on terror.”
He mentioned Israel first, as if he were running for a president of Israel. There wasn’t to that point even anything about Israel in that debate. It doesn’t reflect on Israel – Israel does what Israel thinks is in her best interest and to that effect takes advantage of what she can. It does reflect on the mental conditioning of the American people -a Freudian slip or a shameless pandering by a candidate for a president of the dependent country?
WW:
Thought you would show up sometimes.
Good to have you on board.
Walter:
I think HE is history as far as PB is concerned. Apparently the USS Liberty remark was beyond the Pale for them. Like the Pale of Settlement you know.
The picture of Joe getting slapped around with a wet mitten didn’t endear them either, I bet.
When Israel finally manages to infuriate even their sock puppet Biden, you’d think that Pat Buchanan’s column in its COMPLETE form should be mandatory reading for EVERYONE, not just Americans. We are living in a moment that could be a turning point. If Americans can regain control of their country from Israel, there will be a huge change in the Middle East and in the Moslem world. The United States could, once again, truly stand for freedom and justice. All that was lost could be regained.
Peron
Your comment is right on target: We (American single-citizenship people) desperately want and need our sovereign nation back. That means no more aid to Israel until she starts acting human and humane. We could also do without the commie UN and the Federal (private) Reserve Banking system and the Federal Income Tax. (Ror starters.)
Andy
Good to be here. I’m not sure I want to be a part of HE any longer. I’ll wait and see what the final explanation is for the current screw-up of Pat’s latest article.
The format here is somewhat different but it’s just a matter of adjusting.

A desperate appeal: Americans, please do something. Please, don’t let zionism ruin a fine country. Please, don’t let this horrible humiliation go unpunished. The weak Obama administration will do nothing; actually the grovelling contest goes on unabated. The american people must wake up.

There is an article online that details an earlier run-in Pat had with Human Events. The url is:http://www.vdare.com/misc/090909_bloch.htm
It seems that SPLC and another denier of truth, the National Jewish Democratic Council, takes umbrage to much of what Pat writes. It is an informative article with many links and well worth the time to read.
Linda Muller is webmaster here and responds to posters from time to time. I would believe her site will grow now that Human Events has shot itself in the foot.
You can email Human Events a let the know what you think at Editors@HumanEventsOnline.com. Give them an earful.
Yes, the Vdare article is a good one. It’s also post here: http://buchanan.org/blog/human-events-vs-pat-buchanan-2140 Thanks for mentioning it Andy.
Andy
I just sent HE an email voicing my displeasure at their latest action.
Something weird is afoot at HE with respect to Pat’s blog: Traffic has all but stopped for the last 5 or 6 hours.
Linda may be getting an influx of traffic if what we think is true viv a vis Human Events.
Her blog is somewhat slower in terms of real time communications but that isn’t all bad: It might prevent some of the obscene and racist comments from seeing the light of day. I’m for freedom of speech but some of HE’s posters cross over the line big time (as you know).
We’ll see how things progress.

NAKBLINKA: The Cleansing of CoExistence
By Dom Martin
Truth’s nobility rests in its integrity to recognize all catastrophic forms of human suffering and genocides as a failure of humanism and the triumph of evil. To isolate genocides into varying islands for readership, acknowledgement and compassion, is to obfuscate the very essence of coming into existence and becoming a fundamental part of co-existence.
The harrowing tragedy of Treblinka is no less catastrophic than Nakba, the 1947-48 dispossession and expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland. At Treblinka, an estimated 850,000 Jews lost their lives. At the dawn of Nakba, close to a like amount of Palestinians were dispossessed and/or expelled from their homeland, and by 2010, this number has irreversibly compounded into several millions.
Thus, Nakba + Treblinka = NAKBLINKA! Therefore:
The displacement of Truth:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of Hope:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of Native Americans:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of Africa:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of Europe:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of the Middle East:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of culture:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of humanity:
Is Nakblinka!
The displacement of civilization:
Is the War on Terror!
Dom Martin is a surrealist poet, artist and humanist. He is the author of “Exodus to Eternity”, “COEXISTENCE: Humanity’s Wailing Wall”; “GENOCIDE: The New Order of Imperialism”, and “NAKBLINKA: The Cleansing of CoExistence”. His major art works adorn the Bom Jesus Basilica in India. The Bom Jesus Basilica is a national and world heritage monument.
The Foreword to “NAKBLINKA: The Cleansing of CoExistence” is by Mairead Maguire (1976 Nobel Peace Laureate).

If Pat Buchanan’s editorials are butchered even by Human Events it’s no surprise that he is censored by the mainstream press. Unfortunately only a tiny fraction of the American population will ever come to this website to read the truth.
Zionists control American foreign policy. It is forbidden to say so in America, but the entire rest of the world knows it already. I also find it telling that the neocons who insist that America must have wide open borders are also supporters of a Jewish ethno-state that only lets Jews immigrate.
