What we have created in Iraq and Afghanistan is chaos, countries that are almost ungovernable. I believe that will likewise be the aim in Syria and Lebanon and Egypt.
Why chaos? Because it's easy to create, and out of chaos comes actual weakness so that threats are eliminated. Chaos also offers opportunities to stymie leadership and economic development. And cheap at the cost!
J. Paige Straley
from a lifelong Democrat
As a Democrat with roots back to the Johnson administration, it would seem strange that I usually agree with you. However, your political opinions transcend what has become the current two party trench warfare. I often forward your columns because, more often than not, I think you're right. Err, I mean "correct." In this devolving dark comedy of politics you end up as almost a moderate. Keep writing. I'll keep reading.
I've read three of your books and have read all of your columns I could over the years. I pray you have started grooming a successor for the next generation to continue your legacy. Thank you and keep inspiring us.
The Fox Interview on 6/9/12
Pat saw interview on state of America.. boy was that guy ignorant. America\'s decline morally, economically, militarily, is so evident. America the great is over...
Applause and Regrets
Perhaps because of our shared Celto-Teutonic ancestry, I am much impressed by your thinking and the clarity with which you express your thoughts. My great regret is that you have been marginalized to a shrinking audience by an establishment that does not find that your thoughts promote their agenda. I find it impossible to refute your contention that the political structure of our nation today makes it impossible to successfully address the myriad problems that confront us. Virtually every member of the Congress knows that a vote for any measure that must be taken would make his or her re-election impossible. Consequently, those measures will not be implemented, thereby eliminating any question about a socioeconomic collapse and leaving only the question as to when.
The Morality Of Doing Nothing
I'm half way through Suicide of a Superpower. This is the second book by you that I have read. Your factual footnotes make me feel like I'm back in college again. The controversial material you speak of (diversity, forced equality, conflicts we should not be in) ring so true and so honest that I often find myself wanting to engage in spirited debate on these themes. But I do not dare unless I wish to be branded a racist homophobe. I wonder too, Pat, if your realizations that conflicts like Syria's latest slaughter can be ignored by civilized people like myself, as if it did not happen. What do we do with your words of truth other than read them and keep our agreeing opinions to ourselves...
Miss you on the "Joe" program. Speaking the truth is always costly. Now, drive the "silver stake" into the beast, Wall Street. Following the money always leads directly to the root cause. Regards.
Your voice is far too important not to be heard more often. Since you are not sure if you want to go back to having a daily show, maybe you can sound off on a weekly program to compliment your McLaughlin Group appearances. “PAT DOWN!”
E. O. Wilson
Dear Mr. Buchanan
Your concern that multi-ethnic nations fragment unless a powerful culture binds them together has been intellectually validated by Mr. E. O. Wilson's The Social Conquest of the Earth (2012). To Wilson, our genetic biology impels us to identify with groups for which we will sacrifice--a highly positive factor in our social development. By the same token, we oppose groups different from the ones for which we will sacrifice. Wilson states that opposition to other ethnic groups is the primary way in which this duality expresses itself. He writes, "The worst in our natue coexists with the best..." Wilson's theory is powerful support for your position. Carl H. Middleton
Your book "Suicide of a Superpower" is an impressive, compelling, persuasive and scholarly work! I just finished reading it last week.
You are doing all Americans a service by writing this book. You are one of the few people that understands what is going on and has the courage to express it. A message that GE wants to censor.
Please keep up the good work!
PS Great to see you on the John Stossel show May 19, 2012
Pat, thank you for the insightful and well written pieces. Not sure if you recall, but I was your intern on Crossfire during the Manuel Noriega fiasco in Panama, Dec 1989-Jan 1990. I have kept and continue to support our conservative heritage. All the best to you and Shelly.
A Positive Voice For Us
As a long time Republican and Chair of our local Republican Town Committee I find your books, of which I have several, and your columns an imprtant source of information which I like to share with our committee at our monthly meetings. Your insights are both appreciated and necessary.
Time to get back on CNN
Bring back "Crossfire" on CNN. You and Alan Colmes would be a good fit. I'm a Democrat who misses the good ole days of intelligent Monday through Friday debate that you and Tom Braden provided. I remember the time Braden walked off the show because he felt the guest insulted him. You were quoted later saying that it is supposed to work the other way around. I laughed to myself for about a week after I heard you say that. Ahhhh..the good ole days
Pat, I'm watching you with my babies,Kieran,13, and Matt,12. They don't know who you are. It took them 2 minutes to say, "I Llike this guy, mom. Who is he?" Thanks..
Still Miss You on MSNBC
Hi, Pat, I'm a fan. Not because we agree about everything; there's plenty of topics I hold a different opinion about than you do. However, I always enjoyed seeing you on MSNBC because I appreciated your sincerity and passion, your directness, and your respect for others. Plus, you're a fun and entertaining guy! Hope your life is going well these days.
To Mr. Pat Buchanan
Dear Pat, I hope Fox News calls you soon. You deserve your own show, for the many years of service you and your sister have given to this Country. Your Books are eye opening to anyone that cares about this Country\'s future. God bless you and your sister and Great health to you both.
Dear Mr. Buchanan, I have long admired your honesty and logic of your arguments. The trouble is not enough people are listening to you. We have the same problem here in Ireland, where the clerics abuse scandals have made \'priests\' a toxic brand. I will purchase your latest book.
God bless, Martin Gordon. Cork.
My husband and I listened to you on Howie Carr's Boston radio program the other day. You made us laugh, and ponder. I admire you more than anyone else in politcs or the media for your knowledge, honesty, and the strength of your convictions. Thank you for all that you do to keep us mindful of where America has been and where she is headed.
Wisdom is your friend
Pat, I have read all your books and there is no question that you are not just knowledgeable. You are one of the wise men of this country who sees beyond the mountains of facts and circumstances of the moment. I look forward to each of your columns, and of course, to your next book. I have read all of them. Jackie Pierce
Chen- Chinese activist
Please do a commentary on the Human rights activist in China that our Anti-life President and Secrectary of State failed to help.
I sure applaud your honesty and the frankness in your writing and interviews I've seen. While I admire these traits there seem to be many more that prefer ignorance and their imaginary history. Keep pumping out the books and the truth, someday truth will be more important than deception and your books will be one of the few sources for that.
Excellent Work, Again
I have read most of your books published in the past 10 years, all of which are excellent in their historical analysis and foresight into where our country is heading. Your views are spot-on regarding the threats to our future as a nation.
As a 51-year old commercial banker with an income in the top 5%, I am reflexively uncomfortable with your economic nationalism. However, I think of my blue-collar, devout Catholic, Korean War-vet father with his high school diploma, a farmer and 30-year lab technician for Allied Signal. We were not moneyed, but we had a good lifestyle. Today, what does a 30-year old man without college do to support a family, other than install cable and satellite TV? The post-NAFTA de-industrialization of America has damaged the working class, from a social as well as economic perspective.
America is not the country where I grew up, and I’m worried about our future. Hopefully, millions will read Suicide of a Superpower, and do so with an open mind.
If I were running...
Pat, as a long time activist (back to Goldwater days), I remember well his book \"Conscience of a Conservative.\" It\'s time for another book titled, \"Conscience of Conservative Part Two.\" In the book you could layout your agenda if you were the President. I remember when you ran on your official campaign website you had a very comprehensive \"Issues and Answers\" section. Such a small book as this would be invaluable for those of us who are trying to rebuild a traditional Conservative base among the youth.
I shook your hand almost 20 years ago when you were on the stump in Bakersfield, California. I always voted for you. You are a great American. Greater than most presidents.
Fox News Contributor
Pat, I watch you every Sunday on the McLaughlin Group and read many of your books. I\'m a huge fan forever. It would be great to see you as a Fox News Contributor.
