OCCUPIED JERUSALEM – A Jewish rabbi has issued a book giving Jews permission to murder non-Jews, including babies and children, who may pose an actual or potential threat to Jews or Israel. “It is permissible to kill the Righteous among non-Jews even if they are not responsible for the threatening situation,” Rabbi Yitzhak Shapiro, who heads the Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva in the Yitzhar settlement in the occupied West Bank, wrote in his book “The King’s Torah.” November 7th, 2009

Desmond Travers was one of the four members of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict, which produced the controversial Goldstone Report. Travers is a retired Colonel of the Army of the Irish Defence Forces. His last appointment was as Commandant of its Military College. He also served in command of troops with various UN and EU peace support missions. I recently spoke to Travers by phone about the report. This interview has been edited for length and clarity. The video shows three events that took place during this year’s olive harvest in the West Bank: Settlers are seen stealing olives from a grove belonging to a resident of al-Mughair village. Two settlers pick olives and drag filled sacks to a car… Residents discovered several dozens of olive trees had been cut in their groves. Residents of other villages also reported olive trees that had been cut or uprooted… Settler harass olive pickers although soldiers were present… residents of the village were also attacked by several dozens of settlers as they attempted to harvest olives… [Source: btselem.org]

Netanyahu opened his fiery speech at the inauguration of the Knesset’s winter session by blasting the Goldstone Commission’s report sponsored by the United Nations, that accused Israel of committing war crimes during its war against militants in the Gaza Strip last year. Israel has the right to defend itself, Netanyahu declared, and would not acquiesce to a situation where wartime leaders or troops who participated in the operation stand trial. |

It has been just over one year since the U.S. Army announced that the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team was being placed under the direct control of the US Army Northern Command (NORTHCOM), and was being indefinitely reassigned as an “on-call federal response force” for emergencies of all sorts, natural and man-made, including terrorist attacks, within NORTHCOM’s area of responsibility — the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Just remember this was all done with an overwhelming Democratic majority in both houses of Congress and a Democratic President elected on a promise to usher in “an unprecedented level of openness in Government” and “a new era of openness in our country.” There’s no blaming Republicans for any of this…
