OCCUPIED JERUSALEM – A Jewish rabbi has issued a book giving Jews permission to murder non-Jews, including babies and children, who may pose an actual or potential threat to Jews or Israel. “It is permissible to kill the Righteous among non-Jews even if they are not responsible for the threatening situation,” Rabbi Yitzhak Shapiro, who heads the Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva in the Yitzhar settlement in the occupied West Bank, wrote in his book “The King’s Torah.” November 7th, 2009

The video shows three events that took place during this year’s olive harvest in the West Bank: Settlers are seen stealing olives from a grove belonging to a resident of al-Mughair village. Two settlers pick olives and drag filled sacks to a car… Residents discovered several dozens of olive trees had been cut in their groves. The latest Haaretz column by the outstanding and courageous Israeli columnist, Gideon Levy, is entitled “America, Stop Sucking Up to Israel,” and it highlights one of the most bizarre political facts: criticism of Israeli actions is far more tolerated and permitted in Israeli political discourse than it is in America’s. It’s simply inconceivable that any establishment journalist or national politician would ever echo Levy’s scathing indictments of Israel’s conduct and his calls for the U.S. to apply serious pressure and even threats to coerce changes in Israeli behavior. Stick to the facts, Ambassador Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, writing in The New Republic, says that the Goldstone Report “portrays the Jews as the deliberate murderers of innocents–as Nazis. And a Nazi state not only lacks the need and right to defend itself; it must rather be destroyed.” This is crazy stuff, especially because it comes not from some rightwing crank but from Israel’s highest ranking diplomat who serves in its most significant diplomatic post. So what would happen if, even for an instant, the entire international community catches a view of Israel outside the parameters of victimhood, an image, if shattered, that could undermine its very premise as a safe haven for the persecuted…
