“Well, it’s a fine mess you’ve got us in now, Stanley!” Oliver Hardy used to say in the old Laurel and Hardy movies.
Exactly that may be said of the Bosnian situation into which Bill Clinton has got his country. Eight thousand U.S. troops are tied down; we are nearly a year beyond the original withdrawal date; and Clinton aides are hinting that we may have to be there indefinitely.

Why is it that Republicans, on hearing the phrase “free
trade,” react like Laurence Harvey in “The Manchurian
Candidate,” when he saw the Queen of Diamonds?
Eyeballs click; and they follow the first command they
hear…

After a quarter of a century, it would appear that the chickens of Watergate are at long last coming home to roost. The Democrats’ favorite stick for beating, bedeviling and bringing down Republican presidents may be about to bring down one of their own.
How Attorney General Janet Reno can continue to evade her duty to name a special prosecutor to investigate the Clinton-Gore scandals escapes me. Were this the Nixon or Reagan White House, the Beltway press would be hysterical by now and long ago have shredded Reno as “the Cover-Up Queen” of the most squalid money scandal in American history. Nothing approaches it.

Populists were outraged that their country had been
dragooned into a United Nations of world trade.
Constitutionalists were appalled…Why did Congress
not simply kill that one feature of GATT? Because
Congress had surrendered its constitutional right to do
so! When it agreed to “fast track” in 1974, Congress
gave up its right to amend trade treaties…

The IMF and World Bank are replacing direct foreign aid
as the back door for the global burglars who are
looting America for the benefit of foreign, and even
hostile, regimes…Little noticed this summer, China, the
greatest persecutor of Christians on Earth, emerged
as “No. 1 Son” of the World Bank, as it raked in $3
billion in loans…to a Beijing regime that uses its hard
currency to buy Russian missiles to target American
warships…China is making its own $120 million loan to
Panama…to buy influence and pay for strategic
facilities at both ends of a Panama Canal that passes
from U.S. control in two years…
