Obama Camp Plays the Nazi Card

By Joe Murray - The Bulletin

The Obama camp has raised the eyebrows of the media and scorn of the GOP by supporting the comments uttered by Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., in which he alleges Sarah Palin is a “Nazi sympathizer.”

“John McCain’s decision to select a vice presidential running mate that endorsed Pat Buchanan for president in 2000 is a direct affront to all Jewish Americans,” Mr. Wexler said.

“It is frightening that John McCain would select someone one heartbeat away from the presidency who supported a man who embodies vitriolic anti-Israel sentiments.”

Mr. Wexler’s words, while perceived by critics and others as rash and over the top, are seen as indicative of his established personality as a person known to speak off the cuff.

He is known to have a historic disagreement with Mr. Buchanan.

As a presidential candidate, Mr. Buchanan carried a number of his Florida constituents in the 2000 election depriving Al Gore the White House, and was an early supporter of Mr. Obama in a district that heavily favored Hillary Clinton.

But the Obama campaign added fuel to the political fire when a spokesman defended Mr. Wexler and reiterated the charge Mr. Buchanan is a Nazi sympathizer.

“Palin was a supporter of Pat Buchanan, a right-winger or as many Jews call him: a Nazi sympathizer,” Obama spokesman Mark Bubriski said in an e-mailed statement to the Miami Herald.

Mr. Buchanan, appearing on MSNBC, called the allegation ridiculous and argued Democrats were trying to tie Mrs. Palin to him; a move he argued could backfire.

“If they do that, you end the moratorium on Rev. Jeremiah Wright, because Barack Obama’s pastor and spiritual advisor for 15 years did run an anti-Semitic church, does run an anti-white church and has engaged in racist rants,” Mr. Buchanan said on the “Morning Joe” show.

“And we were told that, ‘look, this is off the table,’ those sort of things. And them to have them come up and, come after me, you open up somebody’s associations. You open those up. You open up all of yours.”

Conservatives also argued that the Obama campaign’s recently developed harsh tone is as a radical departure from the politics of hope and a sign Mrs. Palin poses a threat in November.

“They are so desperate they will stop at nothing. They realize John McCain hit a home run with his choice,” said conservative activist Janet Folger.

Ms. Folger argued the energy created by Mrs. Palin has stunned Democrats, and they are scrambling to respond to the surprise pick.

Apart from being bombastic, facts suggest Mr. Wexler’s allegations are unfounded.

Mr. Wexler first charged Mrs. Palin with endorsing Mr. Buchanan when she was mayor of Wasilla. The fact is Mrs. Palin was at a Buchanan fundraiser, but she did not contribute to his campaign.

And while she did wear a Buchanan button, Mrs. Palin would later write the local paper saying it was customary for her to wear the button of any presidential candidate visiting the town. She did not even support Mr. Buchanan in 2000.

Mr. Wexler then alleged Mr. Buchanan “is a Nazi sympathizer with a uniquely atrocious record on Israel, even going as far as to denounce bringing former Nazi soldiers to justice … ”

Mr. Buchanan has defended six men accused of being Nazi war criminals.

Frank Walus of Chicago and Ivan Stebelsky of Denver were accused of being Nazi war criminals and proven innocent.

Mr. Buchanan, along with the Washington Post, opposed the deportation of Karl Linnas to the Soviet Union. Such a deportation would result in a death sentence.

He also defended Dr. Arthur Rudolph, the German scientist who helped put Neil Armstrong on the moon. Dr. Randolph was cleared of wrongdoing.

And Mr. Buchanan famously defended John Demjanjuk, the man accused of being “Ivan the Terrible.” Mr. Buchanan’s columns delayed Mr. Demjanjuk’s execution, and he was exonerated when Moscow released documents proving “Ivan” was another man.

The new liberal estate, unexpectedly caught in the force five hurricane of a McCain-Palin ticket, now finds itself naked and exposed. Embarrassed, unmasked, its smoke and mirrors blown away, it runs for cover while taking wild shots at the wind that now threatens it like never before.

I think Mr. Murray better do some more research regarding the Demjanjuk situation. It is far from over.
Right now, Germany is preparing to extradite this guy for war crimes; they believe there is strong evidence for conviction.

Heard about this Wexler jackass a few days ago. The Democrats are already spreading lies about Palin. Many many lies. Remember it’s all mud slinging after the conventions. It’s always to be expected.

It just proves my point that most Jews are Zionist and that its Israel ‘uber alles’.
Viva Pat! and lets hope Sara Palin doesn’t turn her back on him.

Surely a desperate move on the part of the Obama campaign. The Pandora’s box is now open, and he will not be able to withstand the attacks that will now ensue from the Republican attack machine. It’s the old “People who live in glass houses…” thing. I find it interesting that while this is going on, I read an alarming article that has quickly disappeared–that the US is sending more warships to the Black Sea. The Bear Baiting is heating up. We might be on the fringes of a national emergency. Is this being created to help McCain? The timing is interesting.

This is the first time for me to comment. I am a liberal and I enjoy Pat’s views and comments. I don’t always agree, but he makes good points and he makes me think.

Criticizing Palin for her support of Pat is silly. She is on the right of the political spectrum. There is nothing wrong with supporting Pat. I do not believe in any way that Pat is a Nazi sympathizer. That is ridiculous. Palin should be criticized or praised for her own record and stated beliefs.

funny how the democrats are only against the death penalty if the defendant is a minority. it must be especially atrocious to survive the nazi regime and escape the communists to find sanctuary in america only to have leftist-fascist clammoring to send you to your death.

Buchanan is not antijewish, he is against war, lies, oppression and exploitation. anyone who interprets this as being as being antisemitic implies that these evils are in some way exclusively jewish.

judging from the imagery, pagentry, mass-mania, salvationalist rhetoric and personality worship displayed by the democrats, i think the allegations of nazism is projection bias.

I never gave Wexler credit for having any integrity before, and now I have even less. Israel, AIPAC, and their allied partisans have displayed more vitriolic hatred toward conservatives than anyone ever felt about them. This is another shrill example of how ludicrous they can be in an effort to destroy their opposition. If they detect an opposing view, they immediately pull the “holocaust” card out. Suddenly, their opposition is branded a “nazi”. I wish for a day when someone will stand up to them and call them out on it. Do they really think Sarah Palin or Pat Buchanan are Nazis of any kind? No, but they believe that it fair game to impugn them this way. They have used this tactic way too often. I believe that their tactics only serve to make us all empathetic with their perceived enemies. I am liking Sarah much better with every passing day. Wish that she could be our presidential nominee and McCain could be dropped off the ticket. McCain should be running for president in Israel, where his constituents reside.

Let’s remember that Wexler has a large Jewish constituency that he has to placate from time to time. If he were a GOPer, he’d be looking for some tie between Biden & Castro, to feed his Cuban exile voters.
PJB has a fondness for WWII history, and the Nazis are a central player in that story. Just talking about them doesn’t make you a sympathizer. (Though I would like to see Hitler’s name prefaced with some epithet at all times - he earned it.)
PJB also has a strong dislike for foreign interference in US politics and government. It’s not anti-Semitic to point out that Israel has an inordinate amount of influence in US policy. It’s not hate speech to say that some of that influence has led to bad decisions.

PJB also rails at how the Mexican government has, de facto, interfered with US immigration policy by not policing its side of the border and being so corrupt as to drive its poorer citizen across that border. (Into the arms of greedy business owners who think nothing of perpetuating 21st century slavery.)
PJB’s message is ultimately one of freedom & liberty. Freedom to decide our own policies, without foreign direction, and the liberty to benefit from those policies.

PJB & Palin share many of the same policy stances, so it should surprise no one that she supported his candidacy, nor he hers. They probably disagree on a few points too. That’s the very essence of liberty.

BTW: I intend to vote Obama, because he is the smarter candidate, self-made man & is less likely to get my brother (USAF MstSgt) KIA.

I became a HUGE Buchanan follower all the way back to the days of “Crossfire” on Tuesday nights at 6:00PM when he kicked liberals butts with one hand behind his back!………..This wacked out “Lower New Yorker” is classic AIPAC. he’s so stupid that he doesn’t even realize that Palin is “Alice In Wonderland” and hasn’t even met the NEOCON power brokers yet.(He failed to get the memo.)……….And, like Governor Palin, most conservatives are so busy looking at the decoys that they can’t see the ducks.(The NEOCONS will use her up like cheap toilet paper, then flush her after the election.) There is NO DIFFERENCE in Democrats and Republicans.

    Roho,

Hey buddy, why don’t you come on into the forum? That is where we all are most of the time anyways. I respect your opinion. Tell me something? Can you believe some of these people are actually thinking or are going to vote for McCain the whole time knowing he is NOT a conservative. Talk about the nail in the conservative coffin. I don’t have the heart to drive that nail!

I’m not a conservative and I plan on voting for Obama. But I recently finished reading Mr. Buchanan’s book Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War. I think the book is outstanding for its honesty and fair treatment in how WW II came about. I admire Mr. Buchanan’s courage for speaking frankly. As the liberal Norman Finkelstein has written in his writings, anti-semitism is not a problem. On the contrary, anti-Islam is the problem. These statements against Mr. Buchanan are libelous. My regret is there is no politician running for president that is not under the sway of AIPAC.

A vote for Obama, imo, is a vote for liberal persecution madness upon the conservatives in the United States.

It’s happened before. Perhaps the most familiar example of this dates from the French Revolution, at a time when traditional notions of God were discarded as obsolete and replaced by transcendentalized human values. Madame Rolande was brought to the guillotine to face execution on trumped-up charges in 1792. As she prepared to die, she bowed mockingly toward the statue of liberty in the Place de la Revolution and uttered the words for which she is remembered: “liberty, what crimes are committed in your name.”

Think. It’s a real “hate” crime today to state publicly that the Bible teaches homosexuality is a sinful lifestyle for example. The Bible actually does state this but it’s a “hate” crime now to point that out publicly. Ask Fr. Alphonse de Valk he’ll explain it to you in more detail.

We are facing the serious threat today of the loss of our first amendment rights by radical neo-liberal elements gone mainstream in the Democratic party.

Currently, we have the first amendment but it will be reinterpreted to meaninglessness if you allow a Democratic Congress, Democratic Senate, Democratic President, and Democratic appointed judges to move us directly into a neo-liberal facist state (e.g. see Jonah Goldsberg FYI).

We’re a breath away from the beginning of that era. Get the vote out this November and make sure it is a McCain/Palin one.

As much as I want to vote for a third party candidate.. now is not the time. It’s all in the balance. My opinion and it’s still legal to share it.

  15. Sky Tyler said:

    Paleo,

Who is this Fr. Alphonse de Valk ? Is this a Canadian I have heard about?

Conservative persecution is on the rise and a very good point about the Neo liberal fascist state because the attack on free speech via political correctness by the liberals is just the tip of that iceberg.

Hi Sky Tyler……….I post a lot at the great blog roll of spin-offs at this site such as CHT. (But always come back to read anything that PJB writes, and believes his writings have yet to peak). I can not see this election from a “Pragmatic” perspective vs voting true principle. Pragmaticaly, our founding fathers should have all been hung in public for apposing King George, and I have never forgiven myself for voting Bush I over Ross Perot. This feeds the”Duopoly” of the failed and corrupt “Two Party” system in America that has virtualy castrated congress and destroyed our constitution. Many have been led to the “Golden Bull” of “Democracy” in a religious-cult mentality because it makes them feel good.(In reality it makes the Globalist Stockholders feel better when their checks arrive, knowing that the U.S. military has been reduced to a “Corporate War Machine”.)

As for Imitation Conservatives that know in their hearts that John McAmnesty is not a conservative, but just offered them their very own “Lady Diane” (Who also had no power or impact on Goverment Policy), I say “What are you thinking?”…….Southern Avenger Radio -Calling out The Neocon GOP Convention has nailed it in this video!

When one considers Mr. Wexler’s waterboy role during the 2003/2004 AIPAC spying incident, his inclination to hurl mudballs at PJB, or in this case to actually use an alleged PJB association *as* a mudball, looks like just another AIPAC assignment for Rep. Wexler. No prisoners.

  19. jewish4PJB said:

I do not think that PJB is anti-semitic in any way. To argue for a more humble foreign policy and to reject any foreigh “aid” (to Israel or to anyone else), to reject foreign lobbying (like Aipac or Georgia), to critisize Israeli government - is NOT anti-semitic. I read a lot of his stuff, and agree with not all but many things that he says, and never saw a trace of hatred towards any ethnic or racial group. Unfortunately, the American army of Trotsky keeps slandering…
